Red to Blond?

My hair is Dark Red, I am contemplating going blond but my skin is very pale. Has anyone done this? The choices I am considering would be to go strawberry Blond, or same dark base with blond highlights, though I am not sure the highlights create the same effect.

Hi there! I was a hairdresser for many years and I would say that if you are bored and want a change, go for it! Although, I have to agree with some of the others who think red hair is awesome. Have the best of both worlds and go to a hair colorist and do some foils for highlights. Have some blonder pieces and then some strawberry blonde in your hair mixed in with your darker red hair. It will lighten the whole look and be kind of neat. I think it would look pretty cool, that is if you are more of a daring, want-to-be-noticed type. Definitely get a professional to do your hair as red hair is a tough one to color as the underlying pigments are very stubborn. Good luck!

I recently have a horror story about "just this thing"! I was alburne red with hair just below my shoulder blades and got heavy blonde highlights (you know summer chunks) Like you I wanted to go blonde and wanted to try it out before I totally went blonde.

Well she fried my hair and it broke off at the root. CHUNKS of my hair... I literally had to cut my hair super short and dye it dark to cover the horrible shape and colors. That was April my hair is just now 1 1/2 inch long.
