Highlighting permantly dyed hair...?

In September of last year I highlighted my hair with chunks of honey blond streaks (they came out really nice too) but in December (in order to have my hair styled a certain way) I got it permantly dyed black (b/c I was advised that "rinsing" it black wouldnt bring back good results) Now I want highlights again but im afraid that they will come out green or something b/c of the the permanant dye. What should I do?

you should go see a professional before you ruin your hair. "lifters" are also known as "strippers" they can really do a lot of damage to your hair. whatever you decide to do DON'T try to dye over the black, 'cause the black will stay but your roots will turn blond, you'll end up with a "skunk stripe".

I think you could probably go get it professionally bleached, because pro's have done that before and know how to do it the right way, I wouldnt suggest doing them yourself unless you want to get chucks of orange in your hair.

If you had you hair dyed with a premantly dye (black) it is what it say it is (premantly) Blond highlights will not return because the black took hold of the blond .In order for you to get the highlights back again, you will have to go through the same process that you did the first time (strip the dark color to get the light color) You will get the same effect as the first time.
