I want to stop dyeing my hair but how do i manage regrowth?

Hi i am sick of dyeing my hair, every time the roots come in i go back to hair dresser and every six weeks i have the same problem.

I have had highlights in the past that were too bright so hairdresser put semi over them. My roots are light brown and ends blond. I am getting married next month - and want hair down is there a wash in shampoo that would tone it down ?

I bought a nice and easy 6-8 wash out dye in light ash brown but helpline say it is not suitable for highlighted hair and it may go green!. Help is there anything that will get me through this transition period?

I would just dye your hair a color that almost matches your natural color, then you can be done with dying it, and your won't notice when it grows out.

a razor

Try a permanent hair color that is as close to your natural color as possible. Usually with these hair colors, they say to wait a certain amount of time before coloring if you just had a perm or highlight. I want to say that its only 1-2 weeks but don't take my word on that. It will say on the paper in the box. If you are not comfortable with this then I would recommend getting it dyed professionally. I know, it costs more but you know it will be done right. If you match your natural color, then you won't be able to tell when the color fades. Good luck!

I had the same problem. I bought a permanent dye roughly the same colour as my natural hair. My hair did not go green! You could not notice the regrowth at all.

to be honest i'd die it bak ot your original color so you don't have to worry about it, you don't want to worry about your hair color on your wedding day(congrats by the way). just go one more time and have a proffesional match your roots nad die it back, or keep going with the color your comfortable with, until the wedding is over. good luck

For GODS SAKE DO NOT COLOUR HAIR YOURSELF! as you are naturally brunette but have blonde you will need to have some red put in first to get the pigment right else you will end up with the strangest looking hair (I know, been there and done it!)

I got rid of my highlights late last year and all I did was go to the hairdressers where they put a orange moose which put back the red pigments back into my hair (which brunets have) then on went a colour very similar to my natural shade and hey presto haven't needed another colour since and that was 7 months ago!!

Good luck and congratulations for your future wedding

Hi if you use a semi permenant it wont got green I have dyed my hair loads of times, it wont go green unless you are putting another blonde hair dye. If you get a light brown or brown then you will be fine. Dont use nice and easy use casting movida you get a nice result with these ones

Im getting married this July and I went and got my hair dyed at the hair dressers as my hair was all different colours from dying and bleaching, I thought the dye at the hairdressers will last longer but it didnt and was out within a week.

Try and get a colour that matches your own hair colour so you wont notice any regrowth. Id dye it a colour now so you can see if you like it and then do it 2 weeks before the wedding .

Dye your hair now to the natural colour then it will not show when growing out. Seems logical to me.

When you visit your hairdresser ask for your regrowth to be done with a quasi permanant or semi permamant colour. They will be able to match your colour exactly and the look will be more professional than if you do it yourself.

my best advise is to look at the back of a hair magazine for your local recommended hair salon and go there don,t try and do it yourself just before the wedding the last thing you need is your hair going completely wrong

Find out where is the nearest l'oreal salon near you, i work in one and know myself they will not put their name on salons that are not fully educated about the products it is not worth the risk of their reputation. so go there and get a color consulatation and if you agree with their advice go for it.

There is this color remover that you can buy I have seen it at Walgreen and it is also carried at Sally's Beauty Supply, I have not used it myself but was looking it over and you would have to apply the desired color over it. So if you are worried about your hair turning green then you could pick a similar color to your roots and then continue with the procedure. The thing about color is that people don't normally understand is that some bases have purple or green in them so if your hair has natural gold in it then you do not want to put more in it because that would turn it even more gold and make it look brassy-- so you need to use the opposite of gold on the color scheme of color. I have included a website that I have found with the color wheel and it explains it much better so you should have a look at it.

I was doing the same thing. When I quit dying my hair, I bought hair dye from the store a shade or two darker than my natural color and dyed my hair at home. Since the dye is darker than your hair, as it fades, it will match your hair and look nice. This worked great for me a long with regular trims to cut out the dyed hair. It took me a year to cut out all of the dyed part, but my hair is down to my waist. Good luck!
